Apple Pie Smoothie

I love pie. There, I said it. Punkin pie, cherry pie, blueberry pie…apple pie. Hot out of the oven. Oh yeah, it’s awesome. Extra has dessert flavor gum and the apple pie is my favorite. But, and there is a but…I do not like crust. It’s yucky. So make this smoothie instead, it’s yummy 🙂

1 banana, frozen
2 apples (mine were pretty small, adjust quantity according to size) peeled and cored
1/2 cup coconut milk or 1/4-1/2 cup water OR yogurt
3 teaspoons of xylitol or sugar
1 heaping teaspoon of cinnamon

Put all ingredients in the blender and blend till smooth

This was super yummy fresh out of the blender but I froze it instead. It was awesome, one of my new favorite smoothie flavors. Definitely a keeper!

Enjoy!

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Protein Smoothie

I am not a breakfast person. Never really have been. I am just not hungry until later in the day. I know the saying is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but if I listen to my body, it says I don’t need it. On my two school days though, I don’t have the freedom to eat when my body tells me to so I whip up one of these protein shakes to get me through my classes and it usually works. It makes me feel like I’m having ice cream! Yum! And, how can you go wrong putting peanut butter and chocolate together?

When looking for whey protein powder, try to find one with the least ingredients, natural sweetener, lower sodium. I like the 365 whole foods brand…it doesn’t have that strong whey protein flavor. Other brands that are good to try are Jillian Michael’s and Jay Robb.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Smoothie Recipe:

1/2 c ice

1/2 c almond milk (or water)

1 tbsp xylitol

2 tbsp cocoa powder

1 heaping scoop of  chocolate  whey protein powder

1-2 tbsp peanut butter

Put everything in blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Strawberry Orange smoothie

So, yesterday I didn’t make any smoothie pops. Despicable, I know. But I wasn’t home most of the day and we’re running out of fruit anyway. We did have some strawberries left and a few oranges that desperately needed to be used. Oranges are summer fruit. Period. It looks nice outside today so oranges are acceptable. And strawberries are just always good. So here we go.

(This makes a lot cause I doubled what I originally wanted to do. Half this for 1 serving)

2 oranges, peeled
2 cups strawberries (mine were frozen and I microwaved them for 1 min per cup)
1 cup vanilla coconut milk or 1/4-1/2 cup water OR yogurt
1 spoonful of honey

Put everything in the blender and mix to your hearts content.
Enjoy:)

Banana Blueberry smoothie

I love banana. Like really love it. Every time I make a smoothie I usually end up adding more banana. But I also love it when smoothies are nice colors. So I made this! It’s actually not too banana-y (is that a word? I don’t care, it is now) it actually has a really nice blueberry flavor with just a hint if banana. And honey. Please don’t skimp on the honey.

1 frozen banana
1 cup of frozen or fresh blueberries
2 heaping spoonfuls of honey
1 cup of coconut milk, or 1/4-1/2 cup of water OR yogurt

Simply put everything in the blender and use the “crush ice” setting to break it up. Add more liquid as needed to get it going. Blend until nice and smooth.

Serve as is or freeze.
Enjoy!

Chocolate Raspberry Banana

This recipe is my daughter’s (Kaela) recipe as she is the smoothie connoisseur! I have pretty much tasted all of her smoothies and they are awesome!

I never thought that fruit and chocolate went together until I tried chocolate covered strawberries. Let me tell ya, they go together 😉

1 frozen banana
1 cup of frozen, or fresh raspberries
1 cup of vanilla coconut milk, or 1/4-1/2 cup of water OR yogurt

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

Put everything in the blender and use the “crush ice” setting to break it up. Then just blend until smooth!

This is really good and it’s freezing into pops at this very moment 🙂

Raspberry Banana smoothie

This recipe is my daughter’s (Kaela) recipe as she is the smoothie connoisseur! I have pretty much tasted all of her smoothies and they are awesome!

This is really just a variation on the strawberry banana smoothie but it’s just as good. I know some people don’t like raspberries because of the seeds in them but I actually really love them. This smoothie has a lot of seeds but I like to crunch on them 😉

1 frozen banana

a handful of frozen or fresh raspberries

1-2 spoonfuls of honey

1/4-1/2 cup of water, or yogurt

Put everything in the blender and use the “crush ice” setting to break it all up. You can add more water to get things going if you need too. Blend untill it has a thick consistency.

Enjoy!

Tropical smoothie

This recipe is my daughter’s (Kaela) recipe as she is the smoothie connoisseur! I have pretty much tasted all of her smoothies and they are awesome!

So this was the first smoothie I made using the protein powder and it was fantastic. It tasted just like that fluffy fruit salad with the Cool Whip and mini marshmallows. I was very happy. We had bought mangos from Costco and of course they came in a six-pack, and I couldn’t just get one (I tried). I ended up having to freeze four of them so looks like I can make this one again soon 🙂 too bad mangoes are such a pain in the butt to chop due to the large seed right in the middle. Worth it in my opinion though, and probably yours once you try this:)

1 mango, peeled and chopped

1 orange, peeled and sectioned

a handful of frozen pineapple

a splash of orange juice

1-2 spoonfuls of honey

(optional) scoop of protein powder

Peel and slice the mango and orange and put into the blender with everything else. Use “crush ice” setting to break up the pineapple and then blend until smooth. You can add more orange juice if it’s too thick.

I froze this into smoothie pops but next time I think I’ll just drink it. It’s too hard to wait 😉
