Well, where do I start? My journey to clean eating started in July of 2011. My health and weight were spiraling out of control. Under medical supervision, I cut out all processed foods, grains, legumes, dairy, salt, sugar, and so on. What COULD I eat? You ask…everything else! I could eat chicken, beef, seafood (yuck), turkey, duck, venison, buffalo, veggies, and fruits. I know, I thought I was gonna die too the first week! Well, after that first torturous week, I felt a lot better, I was sleeping better, less aches and pains, less digestive issues, and I lost 11.5 pounds!!!! Yes, I know that was pretty much all edema, but cut me some slack! I was ecstatic anyway! So, here I am almost 9 months and 123.6 pounds later (that was NOT a typo!) and I have added back some foods although none of it processed, no gluten or refined sugar. I allowed myself a little dairy twice…a little mozzarella on my gluten-free pizza (which I don’t think it really needed it anyway..I think it was just the point of having pizza without cheese?) and some greek yogurt with no preservatives and crap in it.
I have been on a quest to find healthy, clean recipes that live up to my standards and they are very hard to come by! I have also had many people I know asking for healthy recipes. So, I decided to start this blog and post recipes I have tried and “cleaned” up if they needed it. All recipes I post will pass the taste test of either myself, hubby, or daughter, all of us, or just a couple of us…you get it. All authors will get credit and I will supply a link to the original recipe. Everything here will be gluten-free and almost everything will be dairy free (may add a small amount of hard white cheese once in a while which can be omitted). Pretty much all of the smoothie recipes are my daughter’s (Kaela) recipes as she is the smoothie connoisseur! I have pretty much tasted all of her smoothies and they are awesome!
Nobody ever believes me when I tell them my weight loss story. They look at me and I can see it in their faces….”yeah right, where was that fat…your big toe?” THEN, I pull out my before and after picture…..You should see their faces then! Ha! I wish I could see yours right now!
